One of my clients sent me a link to the North Tahoe Bonanza's article about his new video, "Driving Lake Tahoe." If you are a Lake Tahoe buff, then you will want to read the article, located on opage B1 in the Living Section of the paper.
As many of you know, the reason I have a newfound interest in Lake Tahoe is because we recently opened an office in Incline Village, Nevada. Why? I passed the Nevada Bar and am now cross-licensed in both California and Nevada! As a consequence, I needed an office in Nevada, and longtime colleague Jim Burau offered me use of his. Now, "Why do I need a Nevada license?"
Nevada law has a number of advantages for clients who want to protect their privacy, reduce their tax burden (on business activities outside of California), and protect assets from unwanted creditors. I will roll out a booklet and program on the advantages of using Nevada entities in business, tax and estate planning early next year. If you have an interest, make sure to request a copy of whatever I put together (prolly an audio CD and a book).
By having a Nevada Bar license, it permits me to practice law in Nevada, which means I can do the planning, drafting, filings, and so forth from my Incline Village office. For those clients who want to deploy a Nevada family office, our Incline Village office can provide a platform for that service.
And, finally, if you get a chance to watch Darin's video, give it a look-see.
